Meet Toni Toney, an environmental activist, nutritional researcher and author of The Ecotarian Diet. She’s here to talk to us about the Ecotarian diet, connecting with the planet and ourselves, David Wolfe, and her new book, The Ecotarian Detox.
What exactly is an Ecotarian?
Being an Ecotarian is far more than being a vegan, a vegetarian, or a raw foodist. An Ecotarian is someone who eats for the sustainability of their body and their planet. An Ecotarian is acutely aware that great changes are happening on our planet earth. They realize that we must align with our planet; that we are made up of air, fire, earth, and water and whatever shifts and changes our planet is going through are the same shifts and changes we are going through.
Could you give us an example of how you apply those principles to your life?
I hold a master’s degree in nutritional science. However, I most often describe myself as an Internal Environmentalist, one who studies the internal environment and how to create sustainability from the inside out. Throughout the years, I have created The Ecotarian Revolution as a way of life for not only myself but for the world. I apply lessons which teach online certification courses studying the purpose and power of food and how it holds the potential to turn almost every “internal environmental crisis” around! Through it all, I stay true to my mission to improve the health of everyone, not only change the course of the individual’s life, but the course of the planet as well; which has made my life utmost fulfilling to live every day.
What benefits will people notice from adopting an Ecotarian diet?
What we have long called disease is nothing more than a series of ecological breakdowns caused by an internal acid rain. Change the food you’re burning your fuel and you’ll not only transform your life, but also the life of your planet. There is no separation.
For someone who is neither vegan nor vegetarian, what would your advice be on becoming an Ecotarian?
My advice would be to take a look at how you feel when you wake up in the morning and take an inventory of what you ate the previous day. As a test, I would then suggest eating Ecotarian for the next day, and see how you feel waking up the following morning and the difference you will notice will be unspeakable. Your body will go through a detox period by not eating meat or processed foods, however people will be surprised at how savory and satisfying eating as an Ecotarian can be.
Within the food chain, every species has an anatomical body type. Anatomically speaking humans are not herbivores, omnivores, or carnivores, as some believe, but rather frugivores. To some people, frugivores are a species whose preferred food is fruit, along with a small amount of nuts, seeds, and leafy greens. Not only do frugivores feed on this diet, they thrive on it!
How can we connect more deeply with our planet and ourselves?
While some hold the belief that a revolution is a rebellious act, in this instance it is more of a “re-evolution” – a transformation that occurs when a person evolves back at the state they were always meant to exist in. It’s a commitment to an outcome.
Become connected deeper with our planet by eating from food grown from your own garden. Support local farmer’s markets and immerse yourself in the community that surrounds this love for eating clean for our planet and connect with the earth and the people on it in a whole new way.
You’re close friends with David Wolfe. What are the best words of wisdom he’s given you?
I have known David for many years; he is a dear friend to me and to my family. He has always said “the time is now to go green and get lean!”
Do you have any new projects going on?
My book is currently selling on Amazon which you can find here.
In addition, in the coming months I am launching a video package of cooking classes that are tailored for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the Ecotarian diet. I am also releasing a new book entitled The Ecotarian Detox which will also be accompanied with a 30 day cleanse video package that can be purchased online. Lots to look forward to!
